A hidden gem of a characteristic for us who ended up hikers and runners was the Albany County Rail Path. One particular had to work somewhat to obtain to it but it was stunning because it went more than the Norman Kills. Suggest it. Good that the lodge experienced a gymnasium in addition to a pool.
